Mid-Level Network Engineer Job Description: Raytheon will be establishing a regional office in the Aberdeen, MD area to facilitate a team of subject matter experts, and other support personnel, who will support high performance
computer
software application development and analytical research for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). This regional office is to be fully staffed by September 2013. Raytheon Company is accepting applications from prospective candidates, in various technical and non-technical capacities, entry-level to seasoned professionals, to fill several very important roles of responsibility. The following job description describes the criteria for the role of Mid-level Network Engineer. The Mid-Level Network Engineer performs network operations; including installation, testing, servicing and analysis of network power, software, hardware, communications, cables and lines, modems and terminals. Monitors, controls, and optimizes the performance and status of network resources. Utilizes software and hardware diagnostic tools to identify and resolve operational problems and factors affecting network performance. Supports large scale systems projects through vendor product evaluation and cost vs. performance studies. Performs on-site engineering when required. Required Skills: 4 or more years of progressive experience in protocol analysis, communication network system design and maintenance, and knowledge of communication protocols such as TCP/IP, ATM. Knowledge of devices such as routers and gateways. Three or more years of experience in all aspects of communication networks analysis, network management system and tools, multiple Network Operation Systems (NOS), network design, capacity and throughput planning, installation and support of multiple application systems. Desired Skills: Knowledge of LAN/MAN/WAN systems, Infiniband, network applications, operations and maintenance, and sustaining engineering. Proficient with various network operations; including installation, testing, servicing and analysis of network power, software, hardware, communications, cables and lines, modems and terminals. Ability monitor, control, and optimize the performance and status of network resources. Ability to utilize software and hardware diagnostic tools to identify and resolve operational problems and factors affecting network performance. Experience supporting large scale systems projects through vendor product evaluation and cost vs. performance studies. Required Education (including Major): Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field. Certification from Microsoft, Cisco or other Network certifications is highly desired. Existing Top Secret Clearance required.
