Providing a vast continuum of behavioral health care, including outpatient, primary care office, intensive outpatient, inpatient psychiatry, crisis center, and the emergency department, you will be able to thrive and grow professionally with our strong leadership team.
Job Description The unit secretary performs clerical/administrative duties on the Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit.
Tasks may include but are not limited to answering telephones and recording/relaying messages.
Orders and maintains unit supplies.
Works independently, completing administrative responsibilities, such has faxing and scanning documents relevant to patient care.
Interacts with psychiatric patients ranging in age from 18 to geriatric, visitors, multi-disciplinary team members.
Assists in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment, assists the patient care team to provide various patient care activities and maintains positive attitude in a sometimes fast-paced, challenging environment.
Qualifications Education & Training:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology.
Work Orientation &
Experience:
One (1) year of experience as a unit secretary preferred.
The incumbent may require 2-3 weeks of detailed job orientation and training to perform essential job functions with a mentor and/or educator.
Training in de-escalation skills and management of aggressive behavior also required.

Ability to:
Convey effective verbal and written communications; Ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology; Follow directions; Respond to emergency situations appropriately; Adapt hours of availability to variable and changing needs of the hospital; Effectively function as a member of a collaborative team; Independently organize and manage time effectively, setting appropriate priorities; Computer skills.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
